In the Ear or ITE Hearing Aids provide an in-between alternative to people who want some of the performance of a ITE hearing aid and the stealth of a CIC hearing aid.
In the Ear (ITE) Hearding Aids
In the Ear or ITE Hearing Aids rest inside the ear, but are not concealed within the canal. This makes them visible from onlookers, even in face-to-face situations. Originally "larger" in design, technological advancements have allow the device to get smaller and these days can now be well camouflaged in the ear itself.
Typically larger than a CIC hearing aid, the ITE hearing aid will allow for greater amplification and can therefore be used by folks with moderate to severe hearing loss.
In addition to be a little bigger, ITE hearing aids are single unit devices. If a user breaks the device or needs to service it, the costs can mount since the entire unit will often simply be repaired.
