CIC Hearing Aid
A CIC Hearing Aid fits directly and completely inside the hearing canal. This style of hearing aid has taken the device up a notch in terms of technology and style.
More than 20 million Americans have a hearing impairment condition of some sort, ranging from total or partial deafness to a ringing-in-the-ears resulting to dysfunctional hearing. If you are part of this statistic, there is no reason for you to stop enjoying sound and using it in your daily routine, especially now that there are top-of-the-line hearing aids that can help you hear better. The invention of the CIC hearing aid even took hearing-help a notch higher.
A CIC hearing aid (Completely in the Canal) is a device that is custom-made to fit inside a person's ear. As it is located deep in the canal itself, it is as natural as hearing-aid 'hearing' can get. You can choose among analog and digital units. It may not have all the features of other types such as the behind-the-ear types where you can easily control the volumes, but it does have its advantages.
For one, it isn't as noticeable as other hearing aids, so it is aesthetically appealing; pretty handy if the wearer isn't too keen on discussing his hearing problems, in which case hiding the evidence (the telltale hearing device) would be a good idea. Since it is also nearer the eardrum, the volume is also naturally increased, so the wearer can hear well. This can work against the wearer though, because a glitch in setting the device might cause feedback. The best thing is that since the sound receiver is inside your ear canal, it is a rather decent simulation of the natural hearing process.
However, all good things have a price. This hearing aid is more expensive than other types - a fact that can be attributed to it's being custom designed. The wearer also has to be rather dexterous because it can get tricky to get it in and out. Since the device is going to be right inside the ear canal, it would be more susceptible to ear wax. As a result, you may need to have it repaired more often. It is also not recommended for people with severe hearing problems.
If your loss of hearing is mild to moderate, A CIC hearing aid just might be the device that you need to be able to hear well, and look well.
